Teams are Decided!

We are so excited about our upcoming seasons!  After 3 really good days of tryouts, we are confident in the decisions that we have made as to what team each girl will be on.  They will all find out tomorrow...

To everyone who makes the team:  We will have a mandatory parent meeting at 5:30 pm on Monday, March 7th, in the library.  I hope to see at least one parent representative from each family in attendance. We will go over team rules, fundraising, coaches introductions, and other important pieces of information that are vital to the success of our program.  We know everyone is busy, and that you may have had a daughter on the team last year, but we are a different coaching team and would like to start communication with parents off the right way and hope you will make every effort to be there.

Thanks so much!

See you all Monday!

Tryouts start Monday.  Make sure everything is turned in.  Be up at the field ready to go at 3:15.  We will start right on time.

Be prepared for cold weather.  We will be outside unless there is a foot of snow on the field.  Bring a light and dark shirt, as well as running shoes and all soccer equipment to each day of tryouts.  Please bring your own water as well in order to avoid spreading all the great germs that are going around right now.

We will be outside again Wednesday and Thursday.  Bring some cleats and kick the ball around and get ready for a great season.  See you all there!

Saturday, February 19, 2011

Sunday - 10 air squats, 10 pushups, 10 situps - 10 times as fast as you can.  Keep you time

We will have at school conditioning on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week.  Bring your cleats if it's nice and we'll head outside to touch the ball.

Coming Soon...TRYOUTS!

Tryouts are less than 2 weeks away! Do you have your paperwork, physical and fees turned in? If not, get it done ASAP!!!
Tryouts start February 28th.  All players need to bring their soccer gear + running shoes to every day of tryouts.  If you are without running shoes, you will do conditioning tests in your cleats.  You will not be able to make them up on another day just because you do not have shoes.
Please plan on being present at all days of tryouts.  We will not have make up days and our first game is on March 10th so tryouts need to be complete at the end of that week.  Thank you in advance making this happen.

No Conditioning Wednesday and Wednesday Home Training

Great game tonight Blue Team!  You guys played hard and a tie against that team is awesome!

We will not meet at school for conditioning Wednesday.  Instead I would like you to do 10 air squats, 10 REAL pushups, 10 FULL situps - 10 Rounds.  Please post here or on the Facebook page that you did this and what your time was.  PLEASE be honest with your times.  Faster times don't impress me - I'm impressed if you do your best.  If your time is really fast, I will have you demonstrate it in front of the group on Thursday.

Get up, do this workout early and then ENJOY day #2 of no school!  See you Thursday...

No Scrimmage TOMORROW

We will have conditioning after school tomorrow but there will be NO Wednesday night game or scrimmage.  We will find another time next week to go to dinner and hang out after conditioning.  I hope to see you all at conditioning tomorrow.  Stay warm!

Game is ON for tonight

Our Tuesday night team WILL play tonight as scheduled.  It is COLD in that place so please dress as though you are playing a FREEZING outdoor game!  Layers ladies...Our game starts at 5:55.  Get there by 5:30 so you can run down at the end of the field to warm up before we step on the field.  See you there!

Tuesday Night Game

We WILL still play our game Tuesday night at 5:55 even though school has been cancelled.  I called down there and as of right now, the games are not cancelled.  I would be surprised if we do play, seeing as it isn't even supposed to hit 0 degrees tomorrow, but until I hear differently, we are planning on playing.  Dress warm!

Also, Wednesday is iffy as well.  I don't want to go all the way down there and freeze our girls and get them sick.  Stay tuned to this blog for more info.  I'll update when I know more...

Conditioning Cancelled For Today

We are going to cancel conditioning for today due to freezing weather and bad road conditions.  Everyone go home after school and stay warm.  If you are up to it, I encourage you to choose 3 exercises that we have been doing (pushups, situps, burbees, squats, floor sprints) and do each exercise 7 times each for 10 rounds.

Check back tomorrow and Wednesday for updates on the indoor games.  They are not sure how cold it will get inside there and at what degree they will cancel the games.  I will update here as soon as I know anything.

Remember...Wednesday's team does NOT play this week  If we go down there, we will do so as a program and scrimmage each other.  Please comment here and let me know if you plan on going to the indoor field Wednesday night at 6:45 to play if the weather permits.  It will be a fun time.  This is for EVERYONE - not just those who usually play Wednesdays.

Everyone goes to Foothills on Wednesday

There is NO regular indoor game for the Wednesday team this week...

Don't forget that this Wednesday, 2/2, we will have conditioning right after school, and then go out to dinner as a program...more details as to where we will go still to come.  Then we will head down to the indoor soccer field and scrimmage each other for 45 minutes.  We get the field at 6:45.  We'd love to see everyone out there.  Let me know if you are going to plan on joining us for this event.  It's a great time to work out, eat and get to know other players, and then get your cleats on and get some touches on the ball.  If you are not on an indoor team already, you will need a signed release form from your parents to participate that night.  Check this blog tomorrow for more info.  Hope to see you there!

Craigslist Fundraiser

I'm going to post this again as it was an earlier post that some of you may not have read.

Our main fundraiser for this soccer season is going to be our Craigslist Fundraiser.  We are looking for items such as furniture, appliances, well...basically anything in your house that is in ok condition that you are looking to donate or get rid of that we can sell on Craigslist.

Here is how the Craigslist fundraiser works.  You email me with the items that you have to sell.  Send me a picture of your item, as well as the basic measurements, and I will post it and deal with the people wanting the item.  Once it sells I will contact you with the name of the person wanting it so you can set up a time with them to come and get it.  It is pretty simple and has worked really well for the families that have already taken advantage of this fundraiser.  This will bring in much more money than cookie dough or other fundraisers, but we need more participation.  All girls that become part of the program are required to help raise money.  This is a way to get that done and get it done early!  If you have items email me at rvhsgirlssoccer@yahoo.com.

If you have stuff ready to go, please get it to me know so that when the season starts we are not overloaded on stuff that could have been sold early.  If you aren't sure if it will sell, let's just try it.  It doesn't hurt to put it out there.  You'd be surprised at the stuff we have sold already!  Backyard play sets that the owners were just going to chop up but instead the buyer bought it for $75 and disassembled it themselves!  EVERYTHING is fair game - We won't know until we try!

New Facebook Page

Our team is now on Facebook!  If you have an account, type Ralston Valley Girls Soccer in the search engine and "Like" our page!  I'd love to get as many followers as possible.  Share this with current and past players.  When your time at RV is done, it will be a great way to look back and see how you made our program awesome in the years that you were here!  It's also 1 more way to stay connected so you don't miss out on anything!

Weekend Workouts II

Here are your weekend workouts for this weekend...Again, when you complete them, comment on this post so I know that you did them!

Friday - REST!
Saturday - 5 squats, 5 push-ups, 5 sit ups - repeat as fast as you can 20 times
Sunday - Run 2 miles.  Lunge 30 steps every 2 minutes during your 2 mile run

There they are.  I hope you will do them no matter what.  My suggestion...do it right when you wake up in the morning so it is done and out of the way.  Then you have no excuses throughout the day to keep you from doing it.  I know you can do it!!!

Snowy Days

Thank you to all of you who attended (or attempted to attend!) last nights indoor game.  I'm so sorry for the road conditions and weather.  Here's to hoping next week is better!

Congratulations to the Blue team who beat Columbine this week 1-0!  You guys played awesome as a team.  You are leading the league along with Nike Rush with a 3-0 record!

We are almost finished with week 2 of conditioning and I'm so happy to see so many of you still coming.  I know it's hard and it would be easy to find any excuse to not be there so I am proud of all of you who are there every time.

Schedule for the next week:
Conditioning: Monday, Wednesday & Thursday
Indoor Games -
Blue Team: Tuesday @ 6:45
White Team: Wednesday @ 5:55
Both teams are home this week so wear dark.

Day 1 - A Success!

Congratulations to all of you who joined us and completed your first day of conditioning!  You all did a great job and I promise you it will get easier if you keep coming on a regular basis.  You never know what you are in for until you show up, but I know in the end it will pay off.  For those of you who didn't join us today, it's not too late!  Show up Wed. at 3:15.  We are now meeting in the W hall upstairs at RV.

Good luck to both teams at indoor this week!

Keep practicing those handstands!  I know it sounds crazy for soccer girls to be doing them, but trust me - they work every muscle in your body!
